Our Teachers

The care, nurture and education of your child is important to us.  Therefore we ensure every staff member receives appropriate orientation and training on an ongoing basis.

Lord of Life ensures all Lead Teachers have a degree in Education or a related field, or have completed CDA (Child Development Associate) Credential coursework.   Assistant Teachers have various backgrounds, but must have prior childcare experience.  All teachers are encouraged to obtain continuing education in the early childhood education and development field.

High-quality child care is directly linked to the education and training of the staff. We work hard to increase the knowledge and education of all our teachers.  Quality training creates a more professional and rewarding work experience for teachers.  Most importantly, the increase in quality child care allows children to learn, grow and flourish in a caring & responsive environment.

Each staff person at the Child Development Center receives relevant, continuing education - at least 30 hours of training every two years.  Training includes Infant & Child First Aid and CPR, Child Abuse Recognition, Fire Safety and Disaster Planning, as well as developmental topics.

At Lord of Life we promote core values for our teachers, as outlined in the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct.  These core values state:

Standards of ethical behavior in early childhood care and education are based on commitment to the following core values that are deeply rooted in the history of the field of early childhood care and education. We have made a commitment to:

  • Appreciate childhood as a unique and valuable stage of the human life cycle

  • Base our work on knowledge of how children develop and learn

  • Appreciate and support the bond between the child and family

  • Recognize that children are best understood and supported in the context of family, culture, community, and society

  • Respect the dignity, worth, and uniqueness of each individual (child, family member, and colleague)

  • Respect diversity in children, families, and colleagues

  • Recognize that children and adults achieve their full potential in the context of relationships that are based on trust and respect
